Setting up and going live


Use BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations and BMC Helix Developer Tools for building integrations with third-party and BMC products to collect event, metric, topology, and services data.

BMC Helix Intelligent Integrationsand BMC Helix Developer Tools are subscription-based services available on BMC Helix Portal.

Before starting with the tasks in the following table, review the deployment scenarios and choose the deployment mode for BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations.

Register with BMC and activate BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations  

  1. Complete the BMC registration process and understand the subscription information.
    After you subscribe to the service, BMC sends an activation email that contains a link to activate your account and the tenant administrator user name. 
  2. Click Sign in to activate your account and set the tenant administrator password. The tenant administrator is the first user who logs in to the product. This link for setting the password remains active for 120 hours only, after which it expires.

Your free trial remains active for 14 days. During the trial, you get unrestricted access to all the capabilities available with the integrated products and common services.

To continue using the integrated products after the trial expires and for any other queries, contact BMC Support.

Provide consent for data collection

When you log in for the first time as a tenant administrator, provide your consent for data collection in the Allow data collection for product improvement dialog box. By default, the data collection settings are disabled for a tenant administrator.

To provide your consent for data collection for all the users:

  1. To enable data collection for performance and product improvement, select Enable data collection for performance and product improvement.
  2. To enable data collection for marketing and outreach, select Enable data collection for marketing and outreach.

    Tip

    • To understand the types of data that are collected, expand Click for examples of the types of data we collect for performance and product improvement.
    •  To understand the ways in which the collected data is used, expand Click for examples of ways data may be used for marketing and outreach.
  3. (Optional) To enable data collection for your account, select Turn on data collection for my account for either performance and product improvement or for marketing and outreach or for both.
  4. Click Agree and submit.

You can modify your consent for data collection at any time. 

Consent at user level 

If the tenant administrator has consented to data collection, the user will receive a notification.

Users can modify their consent for data collection at any time. For more information, see Viewing and modifying your profile information.

(Applicable only for the on-premises gateway) Deploy the product 

If you plan to use the on-premises gateway, deploy it.

Launch the product

Depending on the deployment mode you are using, launch the product:

  • SaaS deployment: Log on to BMC Helix Portal and click the BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations tile.

  • On-premises deployment: Use the by using the following URL https://<hostName>:443/swpui
    <hostName> is the fully-qualified domain name of the server where the on-premises gateway is deployed.
    For example, https://swp-2021-1840-disceks1.abc.com:443/swpui.

Important

BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations is not part of the BMC Helix IT Operations Management on-premises deployment. It is available as a standalone deployment in an on-premises environment. Download the files required for version 25.1 of its standalone deployment from the Electronic Product Distribution site. For more information, see Downloading-the-container-images-and-utility-files.

Configure your identity provider

Set up users and user groups, and assign specific permissions to them in BMC Helix Portal.

Use this product to build custom integrations, integrate with TrueSight Operations Management, and collect logs for BMC Helix Log Analytics.

  1. Log on to BMC Helix Portal.
  2. Click the BMC Helix Developer Tools tile.
